About Us

Attorney Maximilian Barteau graduated from McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific in Sacramento, California, after completing his undergraduate studies at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Mr. Barteau was born in Truro, England and moved to California in 1978. He grew up in Tulare, California, graduating from Tulare Western High School. Since 2001, he has made his home in the north state, where he currently lives with his wife Charli and their four children.


Prior to attending law school, he has worked in commerical and residential real estate, information technology, and higher education. While attending law school, Mr. Barteau completed a summer internship with the State of California Attorney General's office and a semester-long externship with the United States Attorney's Office, Civil Division. Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Barteau worked as an Associate Attorney at a well-respected local law firm. Mr. Barteau left the firm to establish the Law Office of Maximilian G. Barteau in Paradise, California.

In additional to his law practice, Mr. Barteau is highly involved in the community of Paradise, and volunteers several hours each week to various nonprofit organizations and boards, including the Paradise Ridge Youth Soccer Club, Paradise Performing Arts Center, Paradise Ridge Chamber of Commerce, and Paradise Youth Sports and Family Center (Paradise Community Village project), which aims to provide parks and affordable housing to all area residents.

Mr. Barteau and his wife also own another business in addition to his law practice, and brings his practical knowledge of business to his law practice.

Mr. Barteau is currently licensed to practice law in the following courts:

  • State of California (all courts)
  • United States District Court, Eastern District of California
